Author Guidelines

Guidelines for the submission of manuscripts

All manuscripts have to be send through the electronic platform (Open Journal System).

The manuscripts can be written in Spanish and English. Regardless of the language they have to include the title and abstract in English. The article should be original, they only can be accepted for publication if they have not been published before, nor submitted for review to other scientific journals.

The authors that send a manuscript to UTE T&T must include their professional data (affiliation), and add their ORCID Id (http://orcid.org/). UTE do not charge Article Processing Charges (APCs) to its authors for publication.

Important: Authors' data should not appear in any part of the manuscript uploaded to the platform for review. These data will be included later in the final version of the document.

Writing style

The manuscripts have to follow the APA style (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition, 2009).

Furthermore, we suggest to use an adaptation of the APA model which incorporates, as a novelty, the complete name of the author. We invite you to follow this adaptation with the approval of the American Psychological Association, in order to raise awareness of the female figure and to facilitate the equality analysis in bibliographies. In this manner, we contribute to the achievement of the great global challenges of the United Nations 2030 Agenda (objective 5) and include the gender perspective in teaching and research.

The text format and structure fits the one established in the template document.

The title, abstract and keywords should appear at least in English and Spanish.

Abstract and keywords:

All manuscripts should include an abstract between 150 and 250 words. It is also necessary to include three to five keywords that defined the article and serve to identify the content of the work. (If the article is written in a language different to English, it is also necessary to include the title and abstract in this language).

Notes: These should be avoided when possible. Notes will be at the end of the text and not footnotes to avoid distractions while reading.

  • The title of the figure must be placed at the top of it (Segoe UI 10 points).
  • The name of the files must follow the order in which they appear in the article (Figure-1, Figure-2, Figure-3...).
  • Images may be included in the document, always placed after the first mention in the text of the article. These images will NOT be used for PDF layout because they are low resolution images.
  • Abbreviations with their definition should be included at the bottom of the figure.
  • The presentation of the tables must follow the APA regulations.

Funding and acknowledgements: If any acknowledgements are necessary, they should be placed here at the end, just before the references. This is not mandatory, except in the case of funded projects, where it should be indicated anonymously with XXXX only for initial evaluation, so as not to identify authors and research teams.

Author identification: The authors should avoid disclosing their identity, especially in the first pages of the manuscript. The name of the author(s) must not appear on any page of the manuscript. This information will be included in the electronic platform and it should not appear in the manuscript sent for review. In the platform has to be stated the name and last name of each of the authors (in order of preference), full name of the work place of each of the authors, ORCID id, postal address and electronic address of the responsible or first author as the responsible of the correspondence.

Review procedure

When a manuscript is submitted, the editors screen the manuscripts to make sure that all the files have no identifying information on the authors and that the article has not been published elsewhere. Then, in a time period of 20 days maximum from the date of reception of the article, the journal editor will assign it to two external evaluators that will carry out a blind review of the article (double blind peer review). Over the review period of the article, both the names of the authors as well as the evaluators’ will be anonymous.

After receiving the evaluations, the Editorial Board will decide whether to publish the article. The decision and the evaluation reports will be sent to the author.

The result of the evaluation will be send to the authors in a maximum period of 2 months from the date of reception.

Assessment criteria

Peer review system. Two or more external expert referees will be assigned, who will confidentially and anonimously evaluate the article (double blind). The referees will use the assessment protocol for their report. The final acceptance of the manuscript is conditioned by the fact that the authors incorporate all the improvement modifications and suggestions made by the referees, shoud there be any, and that they submit it within a maximum of 30 days. The authors will be able to see a summary of the assessment reports in the journal platform.

Referees selection criteria. Referees selection is the responsibility of the journal editors, who take into account their academic and scientific merits, and their professional experience. The Advisory Council members will be able to act as referees.

Editorial decision. The accepting or rejection criteria for the manuscripts are the following:

  • Presentation: writing, organization (logical coherence and material presentation);
  • Originality;
  • Relevance for solving specific problems;
  • Actuality and novelty;
  • Significance: for the progress of scientific knowledge;
  • Scientific reliability and validity: contrasted methodological quality.

After the evaluation process has been completed, the principal author will be notified of acceptance or rejection of the work. If the author of an accepted article wished to review the first printing tests of the article, it should be done within the deadline agreed with the journal. The publication of the article will be subject to a positive assessment of the English version of the original manuscript.

Book reviews

Preferably, relevant publications related to education in different disciplines will be accepted, and the date of publication should be no more than two years old at the time of submitting the review.

The maximum length will be 700 words. The book review will begin with the technical data of the book (author's name and surname, year of publication, title of the book, place and publisher). The name of the author of the review will be at the end of the text.
